Feminine Appeal

Titus 2:   1 But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. 2 Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.

3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, 4 so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands,

Why does God ask older women to teach "good" things to younger women?  So young women will be happy? So young women will be successful? So young women will earn lots of money.

No. Actually these verses have nothing to do with being happy but everything to do with pleasing God, to bringing Glory to God.

Titus 2:5 continues, " so that the word of God will not be dishonored". That is why.

Titus 2:10 continues, " .....that they will adorn the Doctrine of God

What does it mean to adorn the doctrine of God? Can we make Jesus more beautiful than he already is?

In the book Feminine Appeal, Carolyn Mahaney writes:

" To "adorn" means to put something beautiful or attractive on display - like placing a flawless gemstone in a setting that uniquely shows off its brilliance. The gospel is like the most valuable of jewels. It is the pearl of great price.
Make no mistake, by adorning the gospel, we are not enhancing or improving it. The gospel cannot be improved! But by cultivating the feminine qualities listed in Titus 2, we can present the gospel as attractive, impressive, and pleasing to a watching world."

To make attractive the teaching that God save sinners.

Is there anything more worth living for?
