Do You Desire Godly Offspring - Pray for Your Children

     Over twenty years ago a Godly older woman exhorted me to pray for my children. She encouraged me to pray Colossians 1:9-14. She encouraged me to write that prayer on an index card and keep it in my purse and to pray while at stoplights, doctor's offices, while in line at the grocery store. This prayer has been in my prayer journal ever since that day.

 I encourage you today to pray the following prayer for your children, as you rise up, as you walk along the way as your lie down, pray for your children. It is God who works in our children to produce Godliness. We can show them the way but only He can produce good fruit.

Colossians 1:9-14

⁹ For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,^{[e] 10} so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, ¹¹ being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, ¹² and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you^[f] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. ¹³ For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, ¹⁴ in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Teaching Biblical Womanhood to our Daughters

Summary of “How do We Pass the Legacy of Biblical Womanhood to our Daughters?” from Biblical Womanhood in the Home by Nancy Leigh DeMoss.

           

          First, we must remember that God has given us every resource we need. He has given us the Holy Spirit. He has given us His Word. He has given us the privilege of prayer.

       Second, the fight to recapture biblical womanhood is a spiritual battle and we must use every weapon God has provided as we engage in this conflict. We cannot deny the fact that we have breathed the feminist air for several decades. This poison has taken its toll. Raising daughters who are committed to a biblical perspective of womanhood will be like standing against a tidal wave. But stand we must.

            Third, we must teach our daughters that living for God’s Glory is beyond their ability. It is a work of Grace. We teach them to flee to the cross for Grace and Mercy and then become a stream of Grace and Mercy to others.

            Fourth, we must teach our daughters about biblical womanhood as we “sit at home and when (we) walk along the road, when (we) lie down when (we) get up” (Deut. 6:7). We are teaching a way of life as we live life.

            Fifth, we must not be naive. We must be wise, like the “men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do” (1 Chron: 12:32). We must be aware of cultural influence, and we must warn our daughters of the dangers of ungodliness.

What kind of women will it take to raise feminine daughters?  It will take true women, women who have been redeemed by the blood of the cross. Women whom the Master has set eternity in their hearts. Women who are shaped and driven by God’s word and His Holy Spirit.

Happy Father's Day

How Well Do You Know the Father?

Do you know that the Father loves us just as much as He loves His Son? ^“ I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. (John 17:13)

Do you know that the Father knows your name? “I have even called you by name” (Isa. 45:2-4, NKJV).

Do you know that the Father knows “the very hairs of your head are all numbered”? Matt 10:30

Do you know that the Father collects your tears in His bottle? “You number my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle;” (Isa. 49:16, NKJV)

Do you know that He has inscribed you on the palm of His hand? “See, I have inscribed you on the palm of my hands; your walls are continually before Me” (Isa. 49:16, NKJV)

Do you know that His heart is stirred and aroused with compassion when He thinks of you? “As a father has compassion on his children, so that Lord has compassion on those who fear him” (Ps. 103:13)

Do you know that He has His cord of love tethered to your heart and is gently drawing you closer? …. I drew them with gentle cords, with bands of love…. I stooped and fed them” (Hos. 11:1, 3-4, NKJV)


Meditate on His love today. Let Him lavish His love on you His precious child today.

A Real Titus 2 Woman

                       My daughter Megan, Ruth Bower, Becky Peeples and my daughter Maisie


 It is with great joy I write my post today. Today is the birthday of my Titus 2 mentor, a Godly older woman God graciously brought into my life. Her name is Ruth Bower.

 I had prayed for ten years for a Godly older woman to mentor me. To teach me what it means to respect my husband, to love my children, to love my husband. God graciously answered my prayers six years ago when Norm and Ruth Bower moved to Eastman, Georgia.

The Bible states in Titus 2: But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. 3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, 4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.

 Ruth Bower, is a Godly older woman who loves the Lord, with all her heart, all her soul, all her mind and all her strength. She trains me as we sit around my dinner table. We try to meet together once a week, with the Bible as our guide, to share our hearts, to pray together, to laugh, to cry, to "bear one another burdens". Yes, we take risk when we become transparent with one another but God has knit our hearts together in love.

 When we obey God's commands, He abundantly blesses us. When I sought out Ruth to mentor me, I never realized what Blessings would flow from that.  She has blessed our family so much. Her great love for the Lord continually flows from her lips. She praises our Savior all the day long. God's ways are good. God's way are right. There are tremendous blessings when we do things God's way.

 Ruth and her husband Norm have raised six Godly children and are the proud Grandparents of 23 (I think I got that number correct ) grandchildren. All of her children love the Lord and are growing in His Love and Grace. What a Blessing their family is to our family, our church and the Kingdom. I can't emphasize enough the blessings of a Titus 2 woman. If you don't have a Titus 2 woman in your life, find one. Start praying that God would bring you a Titus 2 woman. You and your family will be richly blessed.
